Aspects of Strength Training in Athletics
نویسنده
چکیده
As any voluntary movement depends on the contraction of muscles, the different techniques in the running, jumping and throwing events are very closely related to, and even depend on, neuro-muscular activity. Generally speaking,‘speedstrength’ or ‘power’ is the main form of strength required. As far as the character of muscular tension is concerned, in the sprints speed-cyclical contractions with sub-maximal impulses prevail, whereas in the jumps explosive-reactive-ballistic and in the throws explosive-ballistic accelerations with maximal activation are needed. The term ‘balistic’ implies short startingtime, maximum speed and no possibility of correcting or adjusting the movement during execution.

Development of physical response after athletics training in adolescents with Down's syndrome.
Starting in January 1994, a group of 20 adolescents with Down's syndrome began a competition-oriented athletics training program at a public sports stadium twice a week as part of their education towards integration. They were given complete medical examinations beforehand and followed medically and professionally throughout the program. The results showed a significant improvement in the test ...
متن کاملTraining Transfer in Elite Distance Running: From Theory to Practical Application
Successful training for endurance running events depends on the optimal connection of training exercises and the transfer of training effects. Not every stimulus will automatically lead to an improvement in running performance. This survey examines the optimal connection of endurance and strength properties and training transfer in the annual training cycle of elite distance runners, applying a...

Introduction: It is suggested that quadriceps muscle has an important role in stability & mobility of Knee joint in athletics and normal individuals therefore, the purpose of this study was evaluation of the strength in Power Athletics (PA) and Normal Un-trained Individuals (NUI) groups. Methods and Materials: 31 Females (20 NUI & 11 PA) participated in this study. For measuring the strength, e...

Background and Aim: The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of eight weeks of combined training (plyometric and resistance) on selected biomechanical variables (flexibility, balance, power and speed) of ectomorphic and mesomorphic athletics boys. The performance of elite athletes who are active in various sports can be generally attributed to two factors: one is related to th...
متن کاملFluid needs for training and competition in athletics.
The diverse nature of the athletic events, together with the varied training programmes and individuality of athletes taking part, inevitably means that fluid needs are highly variable--between athletes, perhaps between training and competition, and with differing environmental conditions and degree of training and heat acclimatization. There are limited data from athletics on all aspects of fl...
